History of the D.C. Boys Choir

The D.C. Boys Choir is a group of musically talented young male students, established to help develop self-esteem by revealing and nurturing their creativity through artistic expression.

The D.C. Boys Choir has established itself as one of the premier youth choirs in the nation. From its inception in 1993 sponsored by the Gifted and Talented Education Program of the District of Columbia Public Schools and as a local and community choral group, the choir has emerged on the national and international scene with honor and distinction. Under the leadership of Eleanor Stewart, a retired vocal music teacher in the District of Columbia Public Schools, the D.C. Boys Choir has a long and distinguished list of outstanding command performances from Harlem to the White House.

The D.C. Boys Choir offers membership, by audition, to boys ages nine to thirteen enrolled in the District of Columbia Schools. For an appointment and additional information, you may contact Ms. Eleanor Stewart at (301) 853-6433.
